The big lie about capitalism is that everyone can be rich. That’s impossible. Capitalism works only if the vast majority of the population are kept poor enough to never quit working, are kept poor enough to accept distasteful jobs society cannot function without. If everyone were a millionaire, who would empty the trash or repair the sewers? It follows that the poorer the general population is made, the greater the worth of the money held by the wealthy, in terms of the lives which may be bought and sold with it.

Fashion Favourites: Throughout the career of a prestigious designer you can always expect them to show strong collections each season that exemplifies their typical aesthetics, but not so often there is that one certain piece that goes above and beyond; those of which are never forgotten. In the archive of Prada, I believe that this piece of art so rightly dubbed the ‘Chandelier dress’ is a complete representation of everything that Prada stands for. Miuccia is well known for her experimenting with contrasting fabrics and textures, as well as her incorporation of art, architecture and history and this gown from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection is quintessentially all of that in one. Created by meticulously linking copious amounts of glistening chandelier crystals (hence the name) together with light metal mesh, over a top of simple white linen and completed by use of a colossal embellished belt, this look personifies a feminine modern warrior. It has an air similar to that of armour, but with the lightness and fragility of glass, and instead of hanging heavy it swishes and swings freely. For most the look is too contrasting or incompatible, but in each of the jewels magnificent reflections I see the unparalleled beauty, vision and force that is the Prada house, making it truly awe-inspiring, and will undoubtedly forever be one of a kind. pictures via me @ the Pradasphere.
